I am many things. I like to call myself a poet, a calligraphist, a writer. Truly in my life, I am a big sister, a daughter, and a friend. It sounds poetical to say I come from the land of a thousand lakes when the truth is there are over 180,00 lakes in that country. It is worldly to say that I don’t feel like the citizen of one place, but two continents, the Old and the New Worlds.

On a less general note, my name is Katharine and I was born in September, a month I like to call the Time of Copperleaves, hence the name of the blog. I love the sound of the wind in the leaves, for it sounds like a song or a conversation that is ever going in nature. So that is where the name came from. As I have used many things to talk of myself, there is no one way to define someone. This is a collection of who I am. Enjoy or… Don’t.

“Perhaps no person can be a poet, or can even enjoy poetry, without a certain unsoundness of mind.”

— Thomas Babington Macaulay
