Kind Words (Sisterhood)

A tear rolled down the mounds crested in sadness

Brows creased with disappointment

Shoulders hunched in self-chastisement

Hidden in view in the midst of the forest, inwardly crying

Hidden to be found in the midst of a field, inside dying

There in full view, yet invisible, hoping

To be seen, visible, worth noting

Could have fled, slipped away quickly

There, there, there, sat silently

A warm heart struck with kindness

A word of encouragement to be harnessed

A wisdom shared from words holy

A prayer sent to above, holy

Laughter, friendship, faith, and sisterhood

With kind words was new hope instilled

With gratefulness was the receiver filled

The Orchard

A green spring day

Its light in my eyes

Warm rays of sun on my skin

The song of birds floating in the air.

There I lay in the orchard

Under the canopy of the branches of trees

Them full of leaves.

I remember

In the winter they were and will be so bare

Like black bones above my head.

The garden was known by many

But still known by so few.

Its secrets were deep

As the sea

As the earth.

Lonely trees surrounded me

Lonely flowers shone around me

Lonely fragrances filling the air.

Summer

Winter

Spring

Autumn.

How many had I seen

How many the orchard?

My own secret world:

It’s in the sight of your eyes

But you can’t reach it

Not unless you let yourself in.

I am crazy, I am

I am crippled, I am

I am alone, I am.

But if you join me

I will be crippled, yes

Crazy, yes

But lonely?

Not at all

For you will be here with me.

You came

And you laughed

You saw it all

You loved my world.

No

Not only mine

But yours as well.

More seasons

More life.

It all passed quickly

So quickly.

You became serious

Distant

No laughter

Nor a smile

I could hear from your presence.

You were sad

I knew not why.

The colour around me

Until one day

You came and told me:

Grow up, my friend

You blind old fool.

You are not in your orchard

But in the hospital.

You are dying

My friend.

Colours disappeared in your wake

All of those odours I loved.

Darkness surrounded me

And the first time I realised

I am not only cripple

But also out of sight.

Never have I seen the world

Its true nature revealed itself to me.

I had grown

You had grown.

Take me to the orchard once more!

Let me be fool

Let me be insane

Let me see the world

My world!

As I did before.

Let me not see

Let me not be blind

Let me not be crippled

None of the truth in my own mind.

So you got up and took me to my orchard

And the colours

They were gone

In your wake.

Take me to the sea!

I begged you

And you fulfilled my wish.

I heard the waves

The sound of water

Peace and happiness.

The orchard…

Was my weak whisper

The wind blows in the trees.

This is my orchard.

I am happy again

I can see the colours

It is a beautiful spring day

And you are here with me.

Never bring me back to your world

Cruel, dark and true

Let me slip away

And that was my last wish.

The Green Vale

A lake was in the valley

greener than any other.

O how beautiful was the water

With a waterfall

On the north side

And a little stream

Running along to sea

With blue depths

And Golden fish

All the wondrous plants

And a house made by ants

Living

A girl with worn-out pants.

No human had ever been there

Not before me

The trees could tell and see.

I asked them

The wise old trees

How come had nobody found this place

Before the little sprite

Who loves nature with all her heart.

It is her destiny

They told me

To protect with weapons

These green hills

That had never seen grinding mills.

It was a secret land

In the palm of my hand

Undiscovered wonders

Unfound treasures

Unsearched mountains

No-one’s seas.

What was this place

Of useable boundaries?

And all of it

Everything

New every morning

Every month

Every day

Every year

With no end

Till Eternity.

In this vale of green

In paradise

Next to the stream

Close to the plants

Was a house built by ants

And in the house was a girl

A girl and her worn-out pants.

The girl was a sister, a mother,

To the little animals

That lived in the trees

The trees that could talk and see.

It was her own little kingdom

And the vale of green

Had never been found

Except by one being

A sprite

An elf

Mind you that

She is the girl

Daughter to an elven king.

And she with fairy ears

Was stronger than humans

She was as ancient as the earth

She remembered the dragons

And destruction of her people.

She had fled long ago

She was the last of her kind

And in the vale of green

By the lake and the vale-cutting stream

I witnessed her die and lay in peace once more.
